This was on a photographers website from England, I thought it was very well said. I am going to post the copy here, it should make you really think about a photographer and what you are really hiring.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE AN OUTSTANDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

For that once-in-a-lifetime event such as a wedding, civil partnership or barmitzvah, you want the best possible photos you can afford. So it’s important to be sure the photographer you choose is not someone who’s just picked up a digital camera and proclaims themselves a professional.

We have years of experience at camera-craft, as well as knowledge of lighting, how to pose people, and designing amazing albums. We’re professionals, with the qualifications, portfolio and testimonials to prove it.

We’re not focused on price, we’re focused on quality and service to meet your needs. We offer total flexibility, so we don’t provide off-the-shelf packages, instead we tailor our products and service to suit you. That means we’re not the cheapest, but our discerning clients appreciate our bespoke approach and quality.

You won’t believe how many times someone has told us: “I hate having my photo taken” or “Watch out, I might break your lens” or “Bet you can’t make me look good”. Let us assure you we know how to pose people to look their best. We know how to relax people in front of the camera. And we know when to click the shutter and capture a moment in time.

We take down meticulous details to get to know you and what works for you. Because we’ll make it an enjoyable experience and you’ll have fun, you’ll love how you look in your photos! So your biggest problem will be: “So many beautiful pictures, so how do we choose?”

What sets us apart is the freedom you enjoy. We’ll never tell you: “Sorry, we can’t do that.” If possible we will try. You don’t have to fit in with us; we fit in with you.
